By using School Match you agree to the simple rules below. The main one: we help you plan, but we do not make admission decisions.
Estimates, not guarantees
Chances, ranges, lottery modeling and SHSAT cutoff scores are estimates based on past admissions data. They help you build a list; they do not promise a seat. Applicants, seats and cutoffs change every year.
We are not the DOE
School Match is not affiliated with the NYC Department of Education (NYC Public Schools) and does not act on its behalf. Only the DOE makes offers; applications are submitted only in MySchools, and the DOE sets the deadlines.
Event dates are collected from school and DOE websites and can change. Confirm them at the source before you go — every event links to it.
Free to use
Every feature is free right now. If paid plans are introduced, prices and the refund policy will be on the pricing page before you pay, and payment will go through Square. No auto-renewal.
Your data and your list
Your profile, favorites and list belong to you and are stored in your browser. We use them only to calculate what you see on screen. Details are in the privacy policy.
Fair use
- Do not try to break into the site, bypass limits or flood it with requests.
- Do not bulk-scrape the site — the underlying open data is available from the DOE and NYC Open Data.
- Do not sign in to someone else’s account.
Liability
The service is provided “as is”. We work to keep the data accurate and current, but we are not responsible for admission decisions made based on our estimates, or for changes the DOE or schools make after we checked.
Changes
We may change the service and these terms. Updated terms are posted on this page with a new date.
