How it works
- 1Profile: academic group and DIA from MySchools, borough, interests, lottery number, practice SHSAT.
- 2Your chances: every program gets a percentage with an honest range, plus what happens with a lucky or unlucky lottery number.
- 3Your list: the probability of landing in your top 3, dead positions, and missing safety schools — before you submit.
Where the numbers come from
Chances are computed from the DOE's own published data (seats, applicants, admissions methods, priorities) and calibrated against the citywide outcome statistics the DOE publishes each year. The model is backtested on a held-out admissions year. It does not predict auditions or essays — and says so plainly instead of guessing; it shows how each school scores its assessment, and for the eight SHSAT schools compares a practice score against last cycle's cutoffs.
Data and privacy
Programs, seats, and priorities come from the DOE directory for Fall 2025 entry (943 programs). School composition is the DOE's 2021-22 snapshot — the city has not published a newer one. SHSAT cutoffs are unofficial estimates from public sources, updated Sep 6, 2026. Admissions requirements and selection criteria come from school pages on MySchools, captured Sep 6, 2026.
